This summer I've been to about a half dozen of MA's most famous ice cream places to find the best, and I can say with certainty Smitty's took the crown, and it's not even close. Smitty served me himself and was so kind and welcoming! Coming from far away, I wanted to know what flavor would bring me back; “Amaretto Cherry" was the reply, and the Amaretto Cherry was divine! Rich, full-bodied, real chunks of cherry and chocolate chips, and Goldilocks of not too hard and not too gummy. You betcha I'm crossing that bridge, rounding those rotaries, and working up a sweat on the Canal and Shining Sea bikeways again; how else is a mainlander like me going to have a larger serving next time?
